Hug Culture is a non-profit cultural association, whose objective is the creation of cultural cooperation networks between Spain and Finland. Hug Culture was born thanks to Gilfer’s initiative, in collaboration with Rafael Agudo, who currently form a team with Anna Mertanen, María Suárez, Toni Ledentsa, Susana Nevado and Sari Torvinen, artists, producers and cultural managers. Its main commitment is cultural exchange, highlighting the creation of networks, co-production and research.
Its primary dedication is to cultural exchange, emphasizing the creation of networks, co-production and research. Hug Culture strives to immerse Finnish artists and creative agents into the Madrid art scene through artistic work and personal as well as professional experiences in this context. Bidirectionality is also an important element in achieving our primary objective. This means sending Spanish artists and creative agents to Finland with the same purpose.

Artists residencies in Madrid
For us it is very important that artists have a personalized immersion experience in different spaces of contemporary creation in Madrid, as well as in Hortaleza, the neighborhood where our headquarters are located.
From Hortaleza, one of the neighborhoods in Madrid with the largest associative fabric, we always try to get the resident artists to collaborate with the different projects of the artistic fabric of Madrid in all its fields: artistic and cultural, social integration, equality, ecological and environmental etc
